Base Load Electricity Futures
1 Megawatt of electrical energy per hour based on a base load profile. Where the base load profile is defined as the National Electricity Market (NEM) base load period from 00:00 hours Monday to 24:00 hours Sunday over the duration of the Contract Quarter.
Peak Period Electricity Futures
1 Megawatt of electrical energy per hour based on a peak-period profile. Where the peak-period profile is defined as the National Electricity Market (NEM) peak-period from 07:00 hours to 22:00 hours Monday to Friday (excluding Public holidays, as determined and published by ASX) over the duration of the Contract Quarter.
Strip Futures Products
Pre-determined Calendar (Cal) and Financial (Fin) Year Strip Futures Products are also available for trading in base load, peak-period, and off-peak electricity exposure.
Options on Calendar (Cal) Year Base Load Strip Futures Products
Options over the Calendar Year Base Load Strip Futures Products: 1 Megawatt of electrical energy per hour on a Base Load profile for the respective States (NSW, QLD, VIC and SA) over the duration of a Calendar Year.
Options on 1st Quarter Peak Futures Contracts
Options over the 1st Quarter Peak Futures Contracts: 1 Megawatt of electrical energy per hour on a Peak Period profile for the respective States (NSW, QLD, VIC and SA) over the duration of a Contract Quarter.
Australian Power Indices
The methodology of selecting the component futures contracts for inclusion in both the NPI and the EPI index has been determined on the basis of contract liquidity and open interest.
WEPI
WHOLESALE ELECTRICITY PRICE INDEX - Indicative Daily Cost of Wholesale Electricity (including hedge assumptions). The WEPI™ provides a simple, easily reportable index that reflects daily changes to contract and spot market conditions and their effect on the stability of the underlying wholesale price for electricity in the NEM.
